Ready for the December/January fishing report? What a Winter is has already been! If you are looking for large wahoo and plenty of them, now is the time. This has been the best wahoo run we have seen in years. Every single day we’ve been out, the wahoo bites have been on fire. On the days where the weather has allowed us to get to the floaters, big yellowfin tuna have been there time after time. Most days we have just been targeting wahoo, because the catch has been so incredible. Last week we were able to land 15 wahoo. We’ve had more wahoo bite than that, but some were lost during the fight.
The yellowfin tuna should start moving into the lump, which will be great. We have been seeing plenty of open water yellowfin around our winter time spot, which means it should be a great winter. This will allow us to have a mixed bag of large yellowfin tuna and wahoo. Let me tell you, the wahoo have been on the larger side the past couple of days. One of our captains landed one over 90lb! We have a few dates open in January, and February is starting to fill up.
Give us a call if you would like to get in on the action and catch one of the best eating fish in the gulf before it’s to late. The wahoo will typically be here until the middle of March. With that said, I would come now because they are here in large numbers. If you have any questions please feel free to give captain John Pisa a call at (504) 228-0083 or give out office a call at (504) 982-8862.
