Fishing and beer, beer and fishing. They go together like peas and carrots. But what bubbly brew do you take on your chartered fishing excursion? That is the question. Here’s a short list of some of our favorites to enjoy while you’re on the boat or after a long, hard day of fishing…
- Two-Hearted Ale: With a picture of a trout on the bottle, it’s already a good choice for fishing. Bonus, it down easy as well. An intense beer, hopped with Centennial hop varietal from the Pacific Northwest and complete with aromas of grapefruit and pine. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a bottle (or more) of this fishing-inspired brew.
- Molson Canadian: Brewed in Canada, this preservative-free beer has a sweetness and hop-based bitterness for a smooth taste and smooth ride.
- Miller High Life: Ahhh yeah, it’s the “Champagne of Beers” and one of our favorite home state brews. Smooth, light, and cheap…yay.
- Abita’s Golden: Here’s another one of our favorite locally brewed beers found in the craft beer category. Based on a German lager, it’s a full body brew, crafted from Abita’s spring water and probably enjoyed best after a long hard day of off-shore fishing in LA.
- Dos Equis Lager: You know this Mexican classic and all its deliciousness. Go ahead, just grab a bottle. Andale!
- Budweiser: The “King of Beers” and another on the cheap, yet good list. It’s one of our faves simply because it’s Bud, and you’ve got to like Bud. Barley malt, rice, hops, yeast, and water combine to make a smooth beer that goes down easy.
- Sol: This refreshing Mexican cerveza provides a delicious crisp, lemony taste perfect for a day of big-game fishing.
- Alaskan Amber: The cold fermentation of this Alaskan brew gives way to its medium-body, amber color, and rich flavors that achieve an overall smoothness…yum.
- British Brown Ale: As the sun starts setting, set your eyes on this full-bodied beer complete with notes of sweet caramel, toasted nuts, coffee, and molasses. A rich brew to enjoy as the trip comes to a close.
- Midnight Sun Brewing Company’s Berserker Imperial Stout: With a 13% ABV, proceed with caution and keep on ice Home Run Lodge! This full-flavored beer offers hints of tobacco, dark fruit, and red wine and gives you something to look forward to after a long, hard day of fishing.
